Luis Gonzalez Palma's influence on Guatemalan photography is vast and undeniable. You only need to look at catalogues of photography events to notice it. The importance of the look, the model's physiognomy, the sepia tones, the cheesy and melancholic images... When I started taking photographs I wanted to separate myself as much as possible from his easily recognizable style using elements such as the mask without an expression and without a look. This series serves as a parody of the photographs from the series "Hierarchies of Intimacy", since I think several images from that series are presumptuous and therefore my intention was to transform these images by over-sexualizing them in order to distance myself even more from their style. Sometimes we have to demystify heroes in order to move forward...
